Grace Oyelude, who won the first edition of Miss Nigeria beauty pageant in 1957, has clocked 93 years.

Organisers of Miss Nigeria beauty pageant and other well-meaning Nigerians have taken to the social media to celebrate Grace Oyelude, who won the first edition 66 years ago.

“We are immensely delighted to celebrate the evergreen beauty and brave leader, Chief Grace Atinuke Oyelude, on her 93rd birthday.

“Her courage, resolve, and great strength of character are excellent qualities that have endeared her to us and many others.
Happy birthday, once again, to the first Miss Nigeria, Chief Grace Atinuke Oyelude.

“Thank you for paving the way and setting the standards that all Miss Nigeria Queens walkthrough, as well as your priceless contributions towards women’s empowerment.”

Reacting to this, a social media cimmentator, Ibukun Shounde, said that the life of Chief Mrs Grace is a testimony and lessons to all that nothing, including beauty, lasts forever.

“When I saw her photos, what came to my mind is that nothing lasts forever. Her life is a testimony and lesson to everyone. I wish her longer life and good health,” she wrote.
